What this site is, and who runs it
whodoilooklike.net is an independent hobby project. Not a startup, not a company. No investors, no data pipeline, no venture capital — just a free tool that compares faces in photos for fun.
What it does
You upload a few family photos. An AI model in your browser finds the faces, measures how much each pair resembles one another, and produces a shareable card with a percentile score and a plain-English verdict. There are modes for comparing kids to parents, kids to grandparents, siblings, whole family photos, and even owners to their pets.
The site is deliberately boring about what it isn't: not a paternity test, not a DNA test, not a medical tool, not evidence of anything biological or legal. Face resemblance is a noisy signal — we calibrate every number against real reference distributions so you can see where the signal ends and the vibes begin. If that distinction matters to you, see the science page.
How it's built
Everything runs inside your browser tab. Your photos never touch a server. Face detection uses an open-source neural network; face embedding uses a 512-dimensional identity vector from the same research-grade family of models used in academic benchmarks. The site is a static Next.js export served from Cloudflare Pages — no backend, no database, nothing to hack. Full open-source credits are on the third-party notices page.
Who runs it
An individual developer based in the United States runs this site as a side project. It is not operated by a company and has no employees. Questions, press, privacy, legal, or abuse reports all land at one inbox: hello@whodoilooklike.net. Operator name is available on written request for legitimate inquiries.
How it makes money
The long-term plan is to cover hosting costs through display advertising. As of April 2026, no ads are running on the site — it's completely free and the only data collected is aggregate, cookie-less traffic measurement through Cloudflare. If and when ads are enabled, the privacy policy will be updated to reflect that.
What you can trust us to do
- Never upload, store, or transmit your photos. The AI runs on your device.
- Be honest about what the scores mean. Every result card flags the limitation on the card itself.
- Not sell, not share, not track you. There's nothing to sell because there's nothing collected.
- Respond to contact requests — privacy, abuse, takedown, security — within five business days.
